Callejera
I came to the United States when I was eight months old. Like others, my parents brought me here for a brighter future and to look for better opportunities. Let me tell you that accepting my immigration status and Mexican identity has not been easy. I’m constantly thinking I’m too Mexican for people’s liking. If I’m at a social gathering, a concert, a punk show, the theatre, I always feel out of place so I am grateful to be presenting my work in such a pivotal time where stories like mine are so important. I am proud of my Hispanic heritage and all my identities (including the ones that aren’t traditional). If you have read this far, thank you and go look at some art. If you like anything I’m more than happy to sell a print.
(all profits will go to my visa to stay here in the United States).

These pieces talk about faith and how us as latinos rely heavily on hope.
